Today marked the first automated elections in the Philippines and my first time to vote. There was a lot of confusion as to where people should go to vote, clusters and precincts were all just a jumble to many voters. Some didn't even how the process was to be done, but midday proved to be easier for all as people slowly become aware of where they need to go and what they need to do...
I'm lucky since my voting precinct is right beside our house but the sad thing is, the lines are loooonnnggggg... and I stood in line for around 4 hours before I was able to enter the precinct and cast my vote. It was hot, humid and I was dehydrated, makes me wish I was preggy, so I can get to the front of the line (pregnant ladies and senior citizens don't need to fall in line, they can get in first), good thing though that my house is just beside the precinct and my hubby brings me water from time to time.
The outside of our house is a chaos of people: voters, watchers, volunteers and sellers, I think it's worse than a sale day on a flea market (LOL) but it was an enjoyable thing to watch, see these people go about their day and cast their votes as well.
But all is well, I'm happy I exercised my right to vote and glad to be part of this democratic system.
